Conversations with GOD

I do not know where to start actually. I'm looking at my Conversations with GOD lecture notes and there are many stories in here, and many advise and I do not wish to distort any facts, so for those looking for the exact script, you may refer to SimplyIslam.sg. I saw that they have a video or audio for this lecture here.

Alhamdullilah, went to this lecture with my kakak sedara K.Kin and sister Massy. We came early, solat magrib there and got good seats. Auditorium was packed and hubby who came late also heard the lecture from outside cos the seats inside were full.

Good Job to SimplyIslam.com for arranging prayer mats and area. It was clean and comfortable for the Jemaah.
Shaykh Hisham is a very charismatic Shaykh. He waved to the crowd when he entered the Auditorium ! But he does look much older since the last time I saw him.

He's style of Dakwah is different from the Habaibs from Tareem but still I don't think we should make bad comments to the Shaykh unless our knowledge in Sufism is really high. I for one just wish to say that I came to hear the pearls of wisdom. That's all. And I did. I got some good advise, good motivation and happy that sis Massy got to see the people of the Naqshabandi Tariqat.

Shaykh Hisham told us the story about How Nabi Musa (a.s) spoke to Allah (swt) and how he requested to see Allah (swt). Allah (swt) asked Nabi Musa (a.s) to remove his shoes. Removing shoes is a symbol of respect. Shoes is a sign of Ignorance. It means to take away the selfishness. To speak to Allah (swt), one must remove all ego from one's heart.

It is not easy to make a conversation, it is easy to make Doa, but Doa is not a conversation. Not everyone can enter the conversation. You have to know the password.

Allah (swt) says that as long as my Servant approaches me, as long as he travels to me, I will love him.
You need to show to really want to travel yourself to Maqamul Ihsan. Elevate yourself to that state. So what do you have to do ?

You have to love Allah (swt). Allah (swt) says if you love me, do what the Prophet (saw) did. You have to revive the Sunnah. Follow his Sunnah.

When you have reached that state, you can hear revelations in your heart. You can hear Conversations. Allah (swt) says, when I love them, I will give them ears what people cannot hear. Eyes which people cannot see.

I suppose when Shaykh says this, I picture it to be like what the Walis can do. They have reached that stage where they are so close to Allah (swt).

Shaykh says there is a Hadith Rasullulah that says Those who remember Allah (swt), standing or sitting or laying down, mentioning his name, in constant conversation with Allah(swt) in the heart, Allah (swt) will give you more. You must love and think of Allah (swt).

The talk ended with an interesting Q&A session, and I cannot forget the part where the rat ran across the stage to and fro... We all pointed and laugh and it made the Shaykh made some jokes about it.

To listen to the audio of the talk and the interesting question and answer session, you can visit Ukhti27 blog here.

There is NO race in Islam.

Question from the floor : Are Arabs the only decendants of the Prophet ?

Shaykh Hishams says There is NO Race in Islam. Anyone can be the Decendands of the Prophet (saw) if Allah (swt) wants them to be. Eg Salman Alfarisi, a companion of our Prophet is not from Rasullulah's decendants, but Rasullullah (saw) says that " He is in My family. "

Its more important to be spiritually connected to Rasullulah (saw).

There are decendants of the Prophet all around the world. Shaykh Hisham have seen Spanish people and African people who are from the decendants of the Prophet (saw). Islam have spread far and wide. Even Shaykh Hisham comes from the decendants of our Prophet (saw). His mother is from the lineage of Saiyidina Hassan (r.a) and his father is from Saiyidina Hussein (r.a). He has never told us this before but since we ask, he tells us.

Shaykh says, those Arabs who proudly claim to be decendants of the Prophet (saw) but do not follow the teachings and sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (saw) will make our Prophet (saw)more ashame and not proud.

Shaykh himself have seen arab men in Medina claiming proudly "I am the decendants of the Prophet" but on their wrist are Gold Rolex. Did Rasullulah (saw) teach us that Muslim men can wear Gold ?

Personally, I am happy to hear this... because, asides from the good and Alim Arabs I know, I also know of some Arabs in my country who are proud to be from our Rasul's lineage but do not behave as a proper muslim and look down on non-arabs. May Allah show them to the right path. I remember my first visit to the majlis Haul at Masjid Ba'alwie many years ago. The arabs wear nice and glittery jubahs and reserve the first few rows and do not let anyone sit there. No smile whatsoever to NON - Arabs. Tell me how do I respect them while Rasullulah (saw) have advised us to treat his family with respect ?

I am not pin pointing on the proud arabs only. Proudness takes place in many instances. And this is also a wake up call for me. I often am invited to majlis organised by Arabs. And when I go, sometimes, it did cross in my heart " selamat muka aku muka India, kalau tak diorang tak pandang aku agaknya." ....
You see, I also am guilty of this sin of feeling good that I have Indian blood eventhough I dont mean to be proud. Tsk. May Allah clean my heart.

This is good advise...There is NO Race in Islam....

To be continued.

Surah Al-Imran 26-27 for Rizk.

Been reading this 2 verses from Surah Al-Imran when im on my journey to work.

I like the translation and also the way its sounds...rather melodious if you ask me....

Ustaz Hasbi reminded us in one of the kuliah to read this 2 ayat when we make supplications for Rizk. There is a hadith where Rasullulah (saw) taught one of the sahabats to read this as that sahabat avoided going to the mosque to avoid meeting his debtors.

Its is especially good for people who have burdens of loans. Seek help from Allah (swt) to grant us Rizk and be know that when Allah (swt ) gives, he does not gives like humans. When Allah (swt) gives, he really gives alot, as Allah (swt) does not culculate like humans... and of cos Allah (swt) is Ar Rahman Ar Rahim.... Most Compassionate and Merciful.

Say, `O Allâh! the Lord of all power, You grant power to whomsoever You will and take away power from whomsoever You please, and confer honour and dignity on whomsoever You will and disgrace whomsoever You will. All good lies in Your hand. Verily, You are the Possessor of full power to do all You will, (3 : 26)

AIF ! ... Ahmad Rasullulah, Muhammad Rasullulah

I guess this post is too late cos the men might already have made their way to prayers....

but just for my own reminder sake ..... ( wanted to type it out in my own words, but since Ukhti27 wrote it so nicely, I have taken this from her blog.. again..hee3 .... jazakallah khairan khatiran hor my dear Ukhti27 )

hubby also got this in an sms this morning :

"Asy-Syeikh `Ali al-Ajhuri رحمه الله تعالى menyebutkan dalam kitab nya "Khulasat al-Athar", bahawa barangsiapa membaca sebanyak 35 kali pada akhir Jumaat di bulan Rejab (01/08/08), sedang khatib berada diatas mimbar, nescaya rezeki nya tidak akan putus sepanjang tahun*. *Asy-Syeikh `Abd al-Hamid Quds رحمه الله تعالى "Kanz al-Najah wa al-Surur", m.s 52.
Bacaan nya adalah :

Right now, I cant wait for Shaykh Hisyam Kabbani to come... really want to hear his pearls of wisdom. waiting for simplyIslam.com to release the schedule. ( Ya'Allah, please give me the ease to attend his talks. )

Innallàha wa malâikatahû yusallûna 'alan-nabiyy, yâ ayyuhalladhîna âmanû sallû alayhi wa sallimû taslîmâ. (Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.) 33:56

Seeking Closeness to Allah and His Messenger @ Masjid Istigfar

Shaykh Khalil sitting at the Mimbar

Shaykh Zakaria reciting the Maulid

Hubby carrying baby Adam to meet the Shaykh.
* Pictures taken by Massy

Alhamdullilah, hubby, me and sis went for the talk by Shaykh Khalil Moore last sunday at Masjid Al-Istigfar.

Prior to the talk, Shaykh Zakaria Bagharib and our Naqshabandi brothers led Maulid.

We had arrived late around 12.15pm because hubby and me sent our dear son to the DR as his cough and phlegm was terrible thus he needed the nabuliser. After that, we passed him to my parents and we zoomed to Masjid. It was a pity that Little Habib could not join us for this ceramah as he needed to rest at home, but I am confident that he will be blessed with something greater insya'allah.

When we arrived, surprisingly, Shaykh Zakaria was still leading the maulid. Great, I have not miss the start of the talk.

The Maulid was nice, with drums this time. I was explaining to sis who the men were and she was excited taking their pictures and all. May Allah (swt) show her to the right path. Insya'allah.

After the maulid, Shaykh Khalil was invited to sit on the chair at the mimbar.

Shaykh Khalil started by making DOA, then he said we are all blessed with the ni'mah, blessings of being in this gathering together with Shaykh Zakaria. Allah (swt) has allowed us to grace this event.
He said, he looked at the chair that he was sitting on and said that his teacher, Habib Umar Bin Hafiz has sat on the exact same chair when Habib Umar and the entourage came to Singapore a few months back.

He recalled a story that when he met Habib Umar in Yemen once, many people around him was saying " Habib Umar, when are you coming to our country? "
and Habib Umar said " Yes, we have schedule to visit your country in so and so month. "
Seeing this, Shaykh Khalil said he didnt want to miss the opportunity and he said "Habib, when are you visiting America? Please please come to America."
And Habib Umar smiled. He has this unique smile and laugh. Habib Umar than told him "Everything in its proper time and place."

Shaykh Khalil says that Singapore is so blessed to have many pious Ulama's and Masyakhs coming to spread Ilmu here. Knowledge comes in terms of breaths and chest of these men. He says that he does not deserve to be sitting in the same chair that his teacher Habib Umar Bin Hafiz has sat on. But Allah (swt) is Merciful.

Then Shaykh Khalil reminded us that we are in Masjid Istigfar. Thats the name of the mosque. We have to be people of Istigfar. May Allah (swt) forgive our sins and veil our shortcomings. We must know the importance of Istigfar.
If we can wake up in the wee hours of the morning and make Istigfar, it is a beautiful thing that Allah (swt) have blessed us with, that we can say "O Allah, Please forgive me, Please accept me once again Ar Rahman"

Sometimes we dont even say it, we dont make Istigfar. What state are we in?
Our Prophet Muhammad (saw) in 1 majlis, can make 70 or 100 times Istigfar. He is the Master of Existence making Istigfar in a Majlis with the Companions. Sitting as if they have birds perched on their heads as respect.

Shaykh said Al Ulama' warasatul Ambiar. The Scholars or people of Knowledge are the inheritors of our Prophet. Whoever takes this knowledge have taken a vast fortune. True Knowledge comes from these hearts and not from books only.

Shaykh said, we are all seeking Closeness from Allah (swt), but why are we all here in this majlis? Ask ourselves why are we here listening to the talk? If the purpose is other that Seeking Closeness to Allah (swt) and seeking Closeness with Rasullulah (saw), then we MUST change our intentions. "The Deeds are But by their Intentions."
( At this point, I asked myself what was my intentions : Could it be I wanted to update my blog or I wanted bragging rights that I have gone for Shaykh Khalil Moore's talk? Well... Shaitan can play around with our hearts and intentions. I was confused. I normally go to these talks because I wanted its blessings. Yes, I am 'Kiasu" for Blessings. Well No matter what, I changed whatever intentions I had solely for Allah (swt) and Rasullulah (saw). )

Shaykh Khalil stopped the syarahan and made DOA that all who came will change their intentions solely for Allah (swt) and Rasullulah (saw). Everyone around me said "Ameen" and made Doa too.

He continued saying he has never never never been to a gathering like this in America. Such Blessings, Masya'Allah. He said we sang maulid, and give Praise to Allah (swt) and our Prophet (saw).

There is a hadith Sahir when a man came to Rasullulah (saw) and said " O Muhammad, I have sent Selawats and Salaams to you 1/4 of the night. "
Rasullulah (saw) responded " This is good, but if you can do more, it will be better. "
Then the man said " O Muhammad, I shall send Selawats and Salaams to you 1/3 of the night. "
Rasullulah (saw) responded " This is good, but if you can do more, it will be better. "
Then the man said " O Muhammad, I shall send Selawats and Salaams to you 2/3 of the night. "
Rasullulah (saw) responded " This is good, but if you can do more, it will be better. "
Then the man said " O Muhammad, I shall send Selawats and Salaams to you all night long. "
Rasullulah (saw) responded " In that case, if you will go to that level, your sins will be forgiven and your grief and anxieties will be remove from you"

Shaykh Khalil said that making Selawats will take you out of the darkness and into the Light and the light is Rasullulah (saw). Our Prophet (saw) is the door to Allah (swt). May Allah (swt) open this door for us.

There are many Angels looking for circles of remembrance for Allah (swt). When an angel finds one, the angel will tell the other angels " Come, I have found a gathering that Glorifies Allah (swt). Allah (swt) says that all who are in the gathering no matter what is their purpose, will get Barakah. It is a great honour. Who is going to say that these type of gathering is wrong?. May Allah (swt) guide their hearts.

Shaykh Khalil then close his talk by making doa.

At the end of the talk, Shaykh Zakaria Bagharib reminded us 2 things about making Selawats.
1. Rezeki will chase us. He says if we find that Rezeki does not chase us, then we must inspect ourselves why.

2. Defend us against Black Magic.

Shaykh Zakaria also advised us to read Selawat Fatih. With 1 Selawat Fatih that we read, Allah (swt) will return us with 600'000 rahmats.

- Selawat Fatih ( translation taken from Ukhti27 blog )

After Zohor Prayers, we were served with Roti Perancis and Curry Ayam. Alhamdullilah, I am thankful hubby and me and sista made it for ceramah, despite missing 3/4 of the maulid and going through some rush in the morning sending Little Habib to the DR. Kita benar-benar Bersyukur.

The above narrations are written from my own notes and any mistakes are made by me only. May Allah (swt) help me with the trails that I am facing right now.

At this moment, this Ummi is praying hard for her dear Little Habib to recover from his fever of 5 days.
Ameen Ya Rabbal Alamin. Wassalam.

Menempuh Jalan Ke Surga @ Masjid Darul Aman

Hubby and Little Habib salams Habib Abdullah at the end of the ceramah...

Alhamdullilah, syukur sangat sangat Ummi rasa bila semalam kami sekeluarga dapat ke Masjid Darul Aman untuk hadiri ceramah Al Habib Abdullah Bin Hussein AlMasyhur dari kota Medina.
Everytime para habaib comes to visit our country, I get so happy and pray hard that we as a family including Little Habib gets to attend, and secondly, May Little Habib gets doa khusus from the Habib direct. I pray and I leave it in God's hands if its written as our destiny that we can make it to the syarahan.

Alhamdullilah, yesterday night, not only did we attend, we listen to the pearls of wisdom and advise from Al Habib, and at the end of it, Hubby and Little Habib salam the Habib and Al Habib put his blessed palms on Little Habib's head to make doa.
Ameen.

It wasnt a huge crowd but substantial enough. There was space for me to sit by the corner upstairs and Little Habib was playing around me and looking at the pretty kakaks smiling at him. He only asked for his Abah at the last part of the syarahan, causing me to miss the last story that Al Habib told as I had to bring him down to his Abah!

Started with Ustaz Leyakat Ali addressing the crowd, then the translator, a Kiyaie from Indonesia gave a short introduction of Habib Abdullah.

Basically, Al Habib stuck to the topic and advise us on the main ways to be on the path to heaven.

1. Al Habib says that we must have Ilmu so that Allah (swt) will bless us with happiness.

2. Allah (swt) also order us to seek forgiveness ( Istigfar ) quickly when we make sins as heavens is the place for Al Muttaqqin, yang BerTaqwa.

3. Donate, Infaq your harta, belongings, wealth when you are in a state of richness and Insya'allah when you are poor, Allah (swt) will ease your poorness and worries.

4. Forgive someone eventhough it is difficult to. Al Habib narrated a story about a man whose slave killed his child. Eventhough its hurts him so much, he forgave his slave and also let him free ( merdeka kan hamba ). This is the characteristic of Ahli Syurga.

5. Once when Rasullulah (saw) was sitting with his sahabah in the mosque, a man walked in, and Rasullulah (saw) pointed to his sahabahs that that man is an Ahli Syurga.

" Lihatlah orang it, dialah calon ahli syurga."
One of the sahabah followed the man home and asked if he could stay at the man's house for a few days as secretly he wanted to see what are the amals that the man does that makes him Ahli Syurga.
After a fews days of staying at the mans house, the sahabat discovered that there was nothing special about that man. He neither did Qiamulail or fast during the day. So the sahabat confessed his intentions and he asked the man, what was his amal that made Rasulullah ( saw ) pointed him as Ahli Syurga?
The man says " I dont have any special amal, but I do one thing before I sleep which is to forgive everyone and not hold any grudge against anyone. "

Al Habib narrated a story about a man who was jealous of the King's messenger because the King was very close to his messenger, that he told the King " Your messenger says that he cannot stand you as when you talk to him, you have bad breath."

The kings was furious and said " What? He said this of me? ... Summon him to me now! "
As the messenger was walking to meet the King, the jealous man stopped him in his tracks and offered him to eat alot of food and in the food, the jealous man put onions and other pungent food. After the hearty meal, the kind messenger walked towards the King and noticed that his own breath stings. So when he spoke to the King, he close his mouth and face so that the King will not be affected with his bad breath.
The King noticed that the messenger keeps covering his face with his palms so in the Kings heart, he felt that what the other man told him was true and that his messenger must have said that he had bad breath.

The King was furious and wrote a letter, seal it and gave it to the messenger. " Send this Letter to this person ".
The Messenger took the letter and went on his way to deliver the letter.

Now each time the messenger delivers a parcel, gift or letter from the King to anyone, the messenger will get a huge tip. So in the middle of his journey, the jealous man stopped the kind messenger in his tracks and say " Where are you going Oh Messenger ? ".

The Kind Messenger says " Im going to deliver this letter to this person as per the king's instructions."
The jealous man says " Please give me the letter and I will deliver it. I need the tip as I have a wife and many children to support."

The kind messengers says " Ok" as he was a kind hearted man.

When the jealous man took the king's letter and deliver it to the man and eager to get his tip, the man read the letter and say " Do you know what the letter says? "

The jealous man says " No, I was only instructed to pass it to you. "
The man responded " Well the letter says the KING has oredered me to kill the person who delivers the letter to me".....So the man killed the jealous man.

Rasullulah (saw) has said whoever wants to destroy a person, he will be the one destroyed instead. That was the moral of the story. As for the kind messenger, he reached the castle and the King was shocked to see him and they both cleared the misunderstanding and lived happily every after.

7. Al Habib advised us to always baik sangka towards human beings. If we are in trouble or in difficult times or if we fall, always take it as a ni'mah.

8. If we sakit hati or feel jealous towards someone, Habib advise us to doa good things for that person and with that doa, it will cure us. " Ya Allah, berilah hamba itu lebih baik dari apa yang dia ada sekarang."
Allah ( swt ) will hilangkan the hasad dengki in our hearts.

9. Al Habib says that ahli syurga are people who have sifat Siddique. Their thoughts are fair and truthful. Assiddique.

When Habib Imam Abdul Qadir Al Jailani was very young, his mother sent him on a hajj trip with a group. His mother did not follow him, but she gave him 10 dirham for his trip and sew it in his sleeves so that this money could not be seen by others. Before Habib Imam Abdul Qadir Al Jailani left his house, his mother advised him to always be truthful to her and never to lie.

On the way to the city of Mecca, their group was hijaked by a band of theives who took all the money the group had. When the theives asked small Habib Imam Abdul Qadir Al Jailani if he had any money with him, he replied "Yes" and showed them his sewn sleeves.
They did not believe him but when they cut his sleeves, they found the 10 dirham. They laugh and say " Oh little boy, why did you tell us you have this money and not lie to us when you could?"
Small Habib Imam Abdul Qadir Al Jailani says " It was because I never want to go against my mother as she told me never to tell a lie."
The band of theives who were all kafirins, were so touched by the honesty of this small boy that they all converted to Islam.
Al Habib said that this was a character of someone who was truthful. Allah will always love people who have a clean heart.

10. The last part before Al Habib made doa was about the path to Jannah was for people who always think and fear the tortures of hell fire and always think of Allah (swt). ( I didnt get to hear the story cos my son was already bugging me to bring him to his Abah. )

I hope what I have written here will help me in my Journey to Ihsan which is my path to syurga and may it help any of my friends and if there are any readers too. Insya'allah.

What I have written is a gist of what the translator has said through Habib Abdullah Bin Hussein Al Masyhur, and if there are any mistakes, it was only made by me.

May Allah (swt) forgive me and bless my family for our efforts in being on the right path. May Allah (swt) place my son in the path that Rasullulah (saw) teaches us to be and make him a sollihin. May Allah give blessings to the baby inside of me to love meeting Habaibs and Orang Orang Soleh too and always be on the right path.

May Allah (swt) allow me to practise what I have just written in this humble Blog. I am nothing but a Hamba Allah, May I be cleanse of any Hasad Dengki.

Istajib Ya' Allah.. Ameen. ( Ok, I am getting emotional ... )

Wasallam.

Oh yes, as per Ukhti27 blog, I have bought this book for $10 after the syarahan. It is indeed a gem and I will use it for referral in my daily life. It includes Doa, Adaps, Faedah and selawats. Alhamdullilah.

Effects on the Unborn Child

Bismillaah-ir-Rahmaan-ir-Raheem.Assalaamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh.

Nobody can deny the fact that the behaviour of the mother affects the child she is carrying.

Doctors worldwide, urge mothers to look after themselves physically and emotionally so as not to cause any distress to the baby. Pregnant women are advised to maintain a healthy diet for the benefit of the unborn child. They are given calcium supplements in order to strengthen the baby's bones. It is observed, that women who lack calcium during pregnancy are prone to having children with bad teeth.

Similarly, the emotional condition of a pregnant woman also affects the child. Thus, women are exhorted to remain calm, composed, happy, free of stress and gloom. If the woman's physical and emotional condition can have an effect on the baby, why would it be farfetched to believe that the spiritual condition too, has a strong influence? Just as it is important for the mother-to-be to look after her health, it is equally important if not more, for her to remain clean spiritually. This will include refraining from ALL FORMS OF EVIL AND SIN.

Ofcourse, some sins have a stronger effect than others, just as carelessness in certain physical aspects is more dangerous than in others. Watching T.V, listening to music, viewing Haraam things, eating doubtful/haraam food, all of these immensely harm the spirutality of the unborn child, and continue to do so even while the mother is breastfeeding.

Accordingly, the pregnant mother should be punctual with Salaah and recitation of the Glorious Qur'aan.

A strong enough proof to this is we see that behind every pious child, is a lap of a pious mother. All the Prophets and saints had mothers with exceptional qualities. Women who take care to observe piety during their pregnancies, and also while breastfeeding, tend to produce children with exceptional qualities. And that is why we find that there have been children who knew large portions of the Qur'aan by heart even before they were weaned.

Shaykh Ashraf 'Ali Thanwi (rahmatullaai 'alayh) narrates, "If before the birth of the child, parents were to reform themselves and adopt piety, then there is no reason why the child born too, should not be pious. The actions of parents (especially mothers) during preganancy have a profound effect on the unborn child.

Shaykh also related, "There was a couple who made an agreement, 'Come, we shall perform tawbah and make a promise to refrain from all sins so that all our children are born pious.' Sometime thereafter she fell pregnant and a pious child was born to them. One day, this child stole some fruit from a shop and ate it.
The infuriated father asked his wife, 'Tell me the truth, where did this effect come from?' The mother replied, 'One day, whilst he was in my womb, I picked and ate fruit from the branch of our neighbour's tree, that is hanging in our garden.' Her husband replied, 'The effect of that act has surfaced today!'

And Allaah knows best.Wa Billaah-it-tawfiq Wassalaam
