AIF ! ...

Alhamdullilah Its Friday.

I had a good cry last night over some issue and the next morning, my senses came back and I realised that everything happens for a reason. Everything that happens is a blessing. Could be a Friday blessing that made my senses came back.

"Oh Allah, Please soften my heart and make a thankful and nice servant."
Im thankful for my son, Im thankful for my husband and Im thanful for being the person I am today. I have to learn to ALWAYS be thankful.

Last Sunday evening, hubby and me attended kuliah at Masjid Alkaff.

Ustaz thought us from the book Insan Yang Kamil by Shaykh as-Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki. I think from now on, I will stick to Ustaz kuliah since the timing is good and I wont have to rush for morening kuliah.
The mosques is also not crowded, ideal for Little Habib to run around.

Ustaz was teaching us on bab - Solat Malam.

Whoever wakes up at night to pray, will be loved by Allah swt and the household will be filled with happiness. The hearts will be peaceful. Rasullulah (s.a.w) said that the goodness ( kemuliaan ) of a person lies on his night prayes.

A person who is good ( mulia ) will always depend on Allah (swt )and not to humans. One of the ways to depend on Allah (swt) is by performing solah at night. By Praying at night, naturally, a person's heart will be far away from the behaviour of asking people for help because the person will know that true help is in the hands of Allah (swt). This shows that the person has been awarded with Iman.

Iman is a gift. It can go up or it can lessen. It depends on how hardworking the person is with his ibadah during the night.

What if the person is too tired to wake up at night ? Well Rasullulah (saw) have said that Night prayers starts after the sun has set, meaning After Magrib. So night prayers includes Solat sunat Magrib or even Witir etc.

Ustaz added that when it comes to solat sunat and learning Ilmu, Ilmu will be more important even if it is just learning 1 line. So if the mosque skip sunnat prayers for a kuliah, then its OK. As attaining Ilmu of 1 line is greater importance to 100 rakaat of sunat prayers.Ilmu is wajib.

Of course, praying towards the end of the night, has more rewards as Allah (swt) sends his angels to Amin the doa of his servants. Allah is also nearest to his servants durings the last third of the night.
Rasullah (saw) has said that it is a MUST to perform night prayers even if it just 1 rakaat of Witir after solat Isyak, Note that Rasullulah says MUST meaning it shows how important night prayers are
.

Innallàha wa malâikatahû yusallûna 'alan-nabiyy, yâ ayyuhalladhîna âmanû sallû alayhi wa sallimû taslîmâ. (Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.) 33:56

Salaam.

What about delaying Fardh prayers for kuliah? Is this recommended, allowed or disliked? Have you heard about this before?

Yes, Ive heard. Sometimes when habaibs come to the mosque and give sermons, fardhu prayers eg Isyak is delayed. This caused many Jemaah's to be unhappy.
Hubby and me heard from our ustaz that this is very common in Yemen as Ilmu is Wajib.
Another Ustaz ( almarhum ) also agree with this arrangement and felt that our jemaah's should not make a fuss about it.

Not many masjid does this kan.. anyway this is infact a controversial subject which was one of the reasons my ustaz step down from his duties as Imam.

So I guess its allowed, but disliked...

I think Isha' is a different case and it is okay to delay it, since the time span permissible to pray for Isya' is very long. Ba'alwie starts Isya' at 8.45pm in Ramadhan...I think there's a special case with delaying the Isya' prayers.

I was actually referring to Asar or any other prayer. There was one event which ended at 6.30pm. I thought it was very strange for the organisers to let it happen - that's very near Maghrib. But I gave it the benefit of the doubt until I can find out about it - but by now, I've forgotten about it.

If it's Isya' the jemaah complains about though, then, it's not true. I heard it is even recommended to delay Isya' if everybody agrees to it.

eh..you know what, I just asked my hubby and he said the same thing.. He said he knows its OK to only delay Isyak... he has never heard of delaying other fardhu than Isyak.. and he says that you he's confident you knew that too..hee...

and Ive only seen my ustaz delaying Isyak at the masjid when there is a speacial talk by Habibs and not other fardhu...

Yeah, I haven't heard of that also. The nearest reason I found, since some of those attending are of other mazhab, is that Asar for mazhab Hanafi is later than our Asar time. I think about 30 min later. Or maybe it was just a human error - overlooked the time or something. Oh well...I guess, as long as nobody misses the prayer.
