Walidaini Ihsan.....

لاَ تَعْبُدُونَ إِلاَّ اللّهَ وَبِالْوَالِدَيْنِ إِحْسَاناً
Worship none but Allah; treat with kindness your parents and kindred ( surah Albaqarah:83 )

We were sitting in Geylang Market hawker stall this morning sharing a plate of Bubur kampung which is so yummylicious, and the 2 women in front of us were talking about how an old woman was trown out of the house by her own son, and her other kids were also not willing to look after her, and in the end, she ends up in an old folks home feelings depressed and heart broken.
Apparently, her eldest son, lives in a terrace house, but still not willing to take care of her, as he travels often and his wife cannot get along with his mother. ( terrible man, take a maid lah )
The woman's other children, are not well-off enough and therefore find taking care of their mother a burden.

When the 2 women left, me and hubby looked at each other and hubby said to me : "walidaini Ihsan. Allah has ordered us in the Quran to do good to our parents."

Note : parents as in both father and mother..... I asked hubby " father as well ?"

I feel so guilty now. No matter what are my reasons, O' Allah, please let me have good relations with my father. Please give me the patience. Please give me sifat Ihsan.

Ok today....Today, I shall smile and interact like a true solehah and will forget our disagreements. No matter what, Allah is fair and Allah knows and Allah will reward. If I am wrong, I seek forgiveness for I am most emotional.

You know, everything that happens has a reason behind it. The fact that Allah (swt) made me sit on that round table with the 2 ladies at Geylang market just now, was for me to hear that conversations.

We discussed on filialness and we do agree that its better to have 1 child that sayang and respect us and is a solihin rather than have 10 children who does not know their responsibilities.

Of course that does not mean that I want to stop at 1. Allah (swt) knows best and HE is the best of Planner and I leave it to HIS hands. Insya'allah.

Hubby said "Isnt it a pity, how some sons have 'syurga' in their house and they kick it out ? "
I said " dear, ada kali susah lah cos wife cannot get along with mother in law"

Hubby said firmly " thats beside the point, no matter what, you have to adapt to the situations rather than throw the mother out "

Hubby also gave thumbs out to one of his cousins who takes the responsibility of taking care of his old age mother even when he has his own family to take care off. We never really know what kind of challenges his face right.

Let this be a reminder to me.
While I love my mother alot, like there is no one else worthy of such love except Allah (swt) and Rasullulah (saw), I will also have to remember that Parents also consist of Father and Parents in-laws which sometimes..... I neglect.

I guess what you hub says is true.. at times, you must forget your own feelings and just try to adapt and understand.Anyway you have really great parents and parents-in-law ;)
