AIF !.... My Ramadhan

Masjid Abdul Razak @ Jalan Ismail. Many Ulama's namely Almarhum Ustaz Abdillah Al-Jufri, Almarhum Syaikh Umar Al-Kattib and Almarhum Habib Ahmad Bin Semait used to teach or be Imams at this mosque.

Alhamdullilah, its pass 15th Ramadhan. So far, its been a favourable Ramadhan for me. Ive yet to break any fast during the day, YET..

Terawih prayers had been done with much will power but its so tranquil at Mjd Abd Razak because after the 12 Rakaat of Terawih, the whole Jemaah stop and sing Qashidah such as Ya ArHamar Rohimmin or Ya Tawwab Tub Alaina. So there is some sort of Intermission..
Then we continue with Terawih. After the whole terawih, and witir, there is the very long doa and ends with another qashidah. The whole events ends around 10.15pm max, and then hubby and me will head for supper @ Irfan’s or Sri Ayu, then head home.

Ive been trying to accumulate as many good deeds that I can do this time, but at the same time, the pressures of worldly desires do enter my life such as buying new clothes for Raya to even looking for new curtains.

The clothes for the 3 of us are settled, not the curtains. Curtains I may have to skip.

I will be wearing something that an aunty had given me. Hubby and Little Habib have gotten baju kurungs which matches my colour.
My bag and shoes are still in good condition, so I will save on that.
Its tempting to get new ones even though the old is more than surviving, but alhamdullilah, hubby is always around to remind me that Ramadhan is not the time to splurge and be extravagant but to think of the less fortunate. I do agree with that. As I grow older, Ramadhan has a new meaning in my life. Its no longer means getting the nicest clothes , bags and shoes, but more of chasing the blessings and pahala that this month brings.

But I cant avoid getting a new carpet for the dining room. The old one is so thin and it’s a hand me down from my mum. Looks like I will have to make another trip to the bazaar which I so dislike sometimes. Getting parking for the car can be so stressful and the crowd just makes me even more lethargic.

Then there is so much food that sometimes just goes in the mouth of the dustbin when we cant finish it.

When I see food on my kitchen table, from one end to another, I really feel pity for those who don’t have what we have. I heard on the radio the other day that there are families in Singapore for instance with 5 children that share 1 packet of rice for sahur. Isnt that heartbraking ? I've been a broken record telling mum to cook less buts she’s making a good attempt at cutting down when she cooks. We don’t waste much food now. The left overs are usually my sahur.

I really love Ramadhan. No wonder its the month specially for the Umat.
The feel is different. The porridge, the Kurma , The ‘world best’ Kathira from Masjid Kassim , I love them all. Its what I take with me through the years as a memories of the blessed of all months.

Its just the lack of sleep that’s brings me down and groggy.

As for Little habib, he is anything but down. Not even the terrible '2' yet, but he’s getting active by the day . He wants to grab anything that he fancies, from switchboards to decorations to wires to laddles. Alhamdullilah. I shant say that its all bad being active. Being active is also a nikmat.

It’s the 2nd half of Ramadhan. O’ the Month of Blessings, don’t you leave us too soon.

"Innallàha wa malâikatahû yusallûna 'alan-nabiyy, ayyuhalladhîna âmanû sallû alayhi wa sallimû taslîmâ. (Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.) 33:56
